Hello! Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Cynthia and I practice online delivering EMDR Therapy, Hypnotherapy and Couples Counselling. I am a trauma-informed therapist and continually evolve as I expand my skillset by taking ongoing trainings related to healthy attachment, parts work, somatic techniques and nervous system regulation. My practice addresses depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, shame, guilt, dissociation and I integrate approaches, in order to ensure that they resonate with my clients as they move towards changing unhelpful, recurring patterns. Further, I aim to support clients as they navigate life transitions, chronic pain, stress, low self-esteem and identity struggles. My intention is to help you release fear or worry, regain your authentic self and unleash your full potential.

My Services 

I provide a welcoming, non-judgmental space filled with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I implement various treatment approaches including EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Somatic/Body Awareness, Hypnosis and Couples Counselling. As I work with you, we will collaboratively develop a treatment plan that is based on your needs, personality, preferences and interests.

I strive to work with my clients’ uniqueness and provide you with tailored approaches that will empower you to achieve goals successfully. Together, with my your guidance, we will expand your “emotional intelligence toolbox” by exploring and practicing emotion regulation strategies, soothing skills, healthy communication and relational patterns. If you are looking for relationship guidance, support navigating a life transition and identity challenges, I will provide you with tools that will help you overcome any symptoms of anxiety, depression, strong emotions and/or trauma responses. I can also support you as you navigate grief, stress, burnout or chronic pain.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR is a scientifically validated therapy technique designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories and other mental health concerns. By engaging in Bilateral Stimulation (BLS), typically through tactile stimulation or eye movements, clients can reprocess upsetting experiences more effectively, ;leading to emotional healing and symptom relief.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It will help you identify and challenge your negative thought patterns and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress or problematic behaviours. Through structured sessions, we will explore new skills aimed at changing these patterns, develop healthier coping techniques and improve your overall well-being. 

Somatic/Body Awareness

Somatic or body awareness in therapy involves focusing on physical sensations, movements and experiences to access and process emotions, memories or traumas. In our sessions, I will guide you to pay attention to your bodily sensations to explore and understand your emotions and responses. Techniques like mindfulness, body scans and movement will help you develop a deeper connection between your body and mind, and facilitate healing and personal growth. 

Hypnosis

Overall, hypnosis is a versatile and powerful therapeutic tool that can be integrated into various psychotherapeutic approaches to facilitate positive change, promote healing, and enhance overall well-being. It's important to note that hypnosis is most effective when conducted by a trained and qualified therapist who can ensure its safe and ethical use within the context of therapy. Couples Counselling

An integral part of my practice entails supporting couples as they develop secure, healthy, respectful attachment relationships. In order to do this, I utilize experiential methods from evidenced-based modalities, rooted in neuroscience, attachment theory and the biology of human arousal. The approaches that I have found effective as I work collaboratively with couples  include Psychobiological Approaches to Couples Counselling (PACT), Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and The Gottman Method.

About Me

I grew up in Quebec, where I obtained a diploma in Arts & Communications and moved to Revelstoke, BC in 2008,  after completing my Bachelor's Degree in Outdoor Adventure Tourism. I’ve been here ever since as I am grateful for the life it affords me! I’m inspired by my connections with people and believe that every person holds infinite potential. I view life as a journey of a thousand experiences which are shaped by our perceptions. As a result, I chose to complete my Masters of Counselling Psychology Degree at Yorkville University in 2021 and later registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) as an Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).
