There are a multitude of reasons why we might seek out external supports beyond our inner circles. We might experience traumatic events, loss, conflict, or other crisis that can impact us significantly and create difficulties in functioning within our daily lives, influence our moods, or relationships and it can helpful to look for psychotherapy provided by clinical counsellors. I provide a trauma informed care approach while practicing within a bias free lens, and being non-judgemental. All therapy will be collaborative and encourages the concept that the client is the expert in their story.

I am trained as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (and CCC) and as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with my practice being informed by 10+ years of working in Mental Health. I focus on adolescents 15+ and professionals with my clients often coming to me due to anxiety, depression, situational crisis, sudden life changes and a range of mental health disorders.

I utilize an umbrella approach to therapy modalities- that includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I look forward to working with you, identifying your needs and goals and walking beside you on this therapeutic journey.

Kellyanne can often be found working with clients who are first responders or other health care professionals. After 10 years in front line nursing – with acute care nursing during the pandemic – her strong background helps to support her fellow colleagues. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bullying or burnout related to the workplace, Kellyanne will work with you on decreasing symptoms, supporting work transitions, shifting perspectives, or other similar goals.

After multiple years of inpatient adolescent mental health care with a nursing lens Kellyanne appreciates working with young adults and adolescents – using a structured family therapy approach, cognitive behavioural and dialectical behavioural skills intermixed with narrative therapy, Kellyanne easily connects with her younger clients.

Kellyanne is passionate in working with Indigenous populations particularly youth who struggle with intergenerational trauma, addictions, anxiety or depression. Kellyanne utilizes a bias free, anti-oppressive lens and can often be found bettering her connections to the different Indigenous cultures that surround her in Alberta.

About Me

Born and raised in beautiful British Columbia, surrounded by water and wildlife, I am now located in central Calgary, enjoying the mountains, beautiful fiery orange and red sunsets and the somewhat well-designed international airport that takes me quickly to a much hotter and tropical destination.

I am a self-proclaimed horrible yogi that enjoys mindfully falling out of my poses, I can usually be found hidden behind a twice-read mystery book, or binge-watching a real housewives series (my guilty pleasure).

Prior to obtaining my Masters in Counselling Psychology and my Canadian Certified Counsellor designation and Registered Clinical Counsellor, I completed my degree in Psychiatric Nursing at Douglas College. I have worked as a Psychiatric Nurse on several adolescent units as well as adult crisis stabilization mental health and addiction units. I have had the opportunity to teach in multiple health sciences programs, teaching Health Policy in Psychiatric Nursing, Pharmacology, Loss and Grief, Counselling Interventions in a Counselling Therapist Diploma Program and Communications in Health Care for Postgraduate Diploma in Canadian Nursing for foreign-trained nurses.
